There seems to be no end to how computers and, for that matter, toilets, have integrated themselves into our lives. Here, in Technotoilet, computers and toilets are integrated with each other. This union was inevitable.

We've all heard of Internet Cafés, but have you ever heard of an internet shower? I received this photo from Marco Polo Espinosa Morales, who runs two internet bussinesses in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, called wc.com, with seven computers, each one set up in a private stall that looks like a like a shower.

This is caped crusader, environmentalist, and time-traveler, Captain Ozone. The thing he's sitting on is his toilet time machine (time latrine), which he used to travel back in time from 2039 to promote the use of hydrogen-based fuels as an alternative to ecologically unfriendly fuel sources such as gasoline, diesel and coal. Captain Ozone recently auctioned off his time latrine, but he assures me that he rescued it's flux capacitor before it was sold. Captain Ozone explains that "The flux capacitor is powered by a miniature hydrogen fuel cell which will not exist until the year 2016." I can't wait!

On May 2nd, 2003, the UK branch of MSN announced the iLoo, the world's first Internet outhouse. The new loo with the virtual view comes with a built-in computer, wireless keyboard, flat panel plasma monitor, and a Wi-Fi connection. MSN is also changing their logo from a butterfly to a swarm of house flies. A portable version of the iLoo was to be unveiled for public use at 2003 summer festivals. It turned out to be a hoax. Then, joy of joys! it turned out that it wasn't a hoax. Unfortunately, the project is dead. Sigh.

Not to be outdone by Microsoft, the folks at Apple have introduced the iToilet. While it is decidedly more attractive and far less prone to infection than the iLoo, it's overpriced, not easily upgraded, and supports far fewer games and programs than the competition.

Actually, the iToilet is the creation of Stephen Murray, AKA Electric Chicken.

This is from an advertisement for the Voodoo5 video card from 3DFX. The caption in the ad reads, "Thank God not everything's not powered by Voodoo5." Although they were pioneers in the field of video acceleration, like the man in this picture, 3DFX has unfortunately gone down the toilet.

This one is called "No Breaks," and it was sent in by Alberto, who writes, "I like your page a lot, so I sent you a picture for The Toilet Museum. I think you'll like it." Alberto didn't elaborate, but I guess this picture sums up his working conditions.
It looks good to me!

Bathroom humor for geeks: This nearly classic visual joke illustrates what a computer and a toilet have in common. A lower-tech photocopied version of this was making the rounds long before home computers were good enough to make this computer generated version. Now that's progress!

When I started The Toilet Museum online, I thought a good domain name for the site would be flush.com, but not only found that it was already taken, but found this photo of an efficiency expert there as well. Incidentally, the flush.com website has since closed shop. In order to learn more about this photo, I've tried to get in touch with the man you see here. So far, I have had no luck. If you are this man, please email me the next time you go to the bathroom.

This photo is by Russian graphic artist Alexey Soloviev. It's a little known fact that the reason that Russia did not win the space race is that they assigned most of their technological resources to the development of this toilet-office. In a way, they've won a different kind of space race. This was sent to The Toilet Museum by a state worker who prefers to remain anonymous. You can visit Alexey's website at http://solo.design.ru. It helps if you can read Russian.
